Dr. Soma Dhakal awarded new collaborative grant

Congratulations to Dr. Dhakal on receiving a collaborative grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). This tri-institutional collaborative grant, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU); the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (UTC); and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville (UTK), will fund the development of a platform technology to accurately detect foodborne bacterial pathogens using unique artificial molecules called ‘aptamers’ – thereby avoiding health impacts and economic losses due to food product recalls.
