Courses

We offer a wide range of courses that cover everything from general chemistry, organic, inorganic, analytical and physical chemistry.

With a focus on both research and the classroom, our program offers students options to achieve what they want from their degree in chemistry. From the two choices below, you will find both our lecture courses and lab courses, both at the undergraduate and graduate level.

CHEM: Chemistry Lecture Courses

Typically, these lectures are three credits but they can range from one to four credits depending on the course. You can find all the prerequisites to our courses here as well. Not all courses are taught every semester, so you’ll need to check VCU’s list of courses to see which courses are offered.

CHEZ: Chemistry Lab Courses

These labs can range from one to two credits depending on the course. For most of these labs, you will need to take the corresponding lecture the same semester or earlier. You can find all the prerequisites to our courses here as well. Not all courses are taught every semester, so you’ll need to check VCU’s list of courses to see which courses are offered.

The VCU Bulletin is the official source for academic course and program information.
