Program Mission

The Department of Chemistry is committed to the dual mission of teaching and research consistent of an R1 University. Our overarching goal is twofold:

  • Provide a top-tier education in chemistry, creating independent thinkers capable of addressing and solving the next generation of scientific and technological challenges
  • Foster cutting-edge research that advances the frontiers of the discipline

We prioritize staying abreast of the latest advancements, ensuring our faculty and curriculum remain at the forefront of the field. To support our graduate students in their academic and research endeavors, we offer teaching assistantships and research assistantships. These assistantships provide valuable opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in both teaching and research, while also providing financial support to help offset the costs of graduate education.
