Dr. Denise Walters
Pfizer Consumer Healthcare
Dr. Denise Walters is a Senior Manager in the North American Development Group for Pfizer Consumer Healthcare in Richmond Virginia. Denise applied her BS in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University to 28 years of pharmaceutical development impacting products ranging from cosmetics (ChapStick®), dietary supplements (Centrum®, Caltrate®), OTC analgesics (Advil ®) to prescription medications like a novel dopamine agonist. At Pfizer, Wyeth, Battelle, Whitby and A.H. Robins she has contributed to toxicokinetic studies, basic research and commercialization of numerous pharmaceutical products through organic synthesis, analytical method development, validation and sample analyses in various dosage forms (biological matrices, raw materials, feeds, and finished products), manufacturing, dissolution, and pharmacokinetic modeling. Denise has published in both the fields of pharmacokinetics and bioanalysis and is a co-author on 3 patents related to dietary supplement formulations. She has been active in the Virginia Section of the American Chemical Society, serving as Vice Chair, Chair Elect and Chair (2016). She is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Virginia Section and is on the Board of Trustees of the Science Museum of Virginia. Denise is on the Tribal Council of the Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia, Serving as Activities Director for the tribe’s Community House and Interpretative Center in Capron, Virginia. She is an artist, dance, singer and self-published poet. She enjoys public speaking, is a Bronze Level Communicator and a local speech award winner in Toastmasters International.
