Our research centers on the development of data analysis strategies to enhance the information recovered from chromatographic analyses. A particular research emphasis is based on comprehensive two-dimensional liquid chromatography (2D-LC), where the eluent from a first dimension separation is comprehensively analyzed on a separate, orthogonal separation system. In particular, we are interested in 2D-LC separations where the second separation is carried out in real time in less than a minute. Issues such as retention time irreproducibility, background and baseline contributions and peak overlap are addressed in our lab with the use of chemometric methods. The software developments in our laboratory are targeted at improving the outcomes from metabolomics experiments.
